USNA ‘14

Kris Moore enlisted in the Navy on 23 October 2005 as a Master-at-Arms and spent much of his first five years providing security at Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific, Bangor, WA. After graduating from USNA in 2014 as a Surface Warfare Officer, he joined the wardroom of USS GRAVELY (DDG107) out of Norfolk, VA. Kris completed a successful deployment to the 5th and 6th Fleet Areas of Operation shortly after coming out as transgender to his chain-of-command and crew.

Kris is back home at the Naval Academy as a member of the 2019 LEAD Cohort where he is earning his Master’s in Leadership Education and Development. He is currently teaching 2/c leadership and will be assuming the role of 21st Company Officer in May 2019. In his spare time, he is an assistant coach for the Navy Women’s Rugby team and aids Navy Spectrum in reaching out to guest speakers, mentoring, and other liaison-type duties.

Kris is extremely proud to be back at USNA where he is taking every opportunity to engage with Mids and hopes to provide a positive impact to our future leaders.
