USNA Out is a tax-deductible charitable organization as approved by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3). Donations to USNA Out subsequent to 27 August, 2009, may be tax deductible in your situation under IRS regulations.
Please strongly consider USNA Out as one of your “favorite” charities. Our overhead is incredibly small. Our “staff” is 100% volunteer. Our board members pay for their own travel expenses, and when it comes board meal time, the board passes the hat to cover the pizza and salad. Hence, your gift goes towards the mission of USNA Out and not for salaries nor benefits of board members. How many other organizations can say that?
There are no “dues” to join USNA Out. However, all members are strongly encouraged, if possible, to make an annual “membership contribution” upon joining USNA Out and annually prior to 31 March each year to help support the USNA Out mission. USNA Out members, please read the “Expectations of USNA Out Membership”.

A few of our members have made personal decisions to contribute directly to programs at USNA for which they have a strong personal affinity, such as athletics excellence programs or the Glee Club. We congratulate and thank our members who are members of the Foundations “President’s Circle” as the exposure to our peers from LGBT alumni has proven to open many doors of acceptance. As an alternative, donations may be made directly to the USNA Foundation, but please indicate the gift is “in honor of the work of USNA Out.”
Membership contributions and donations to USNA Out have helped fund projects as:
- “Seed kickstarter funds” to the Spectrum ECA at USNA
- The USNA Out annual recognition awards to midshipmen.
- Our minor administrative costs for acquiring and maintaining a 501(c)(3) corporation in the State of Maryland, our post office box, etc.
